Let's make this forums a spam-free place!
Before starting a thread/posting a reply, answer the following questions:
1. What is the purpose of the thread?
So you want to share something with other members on the forums? Well make sure that your thread CONTRIBUTES to the forums in a POSITIVE WAY. Avoid silly topics like what type of towel to buy/how weird your lecturer is. Write a thread that can actually ignite deep thought & impart wisdom.
2. Does my post actually drives the discussion?
Aim to make a "quality" post. If your post has too many "lol"s & smilies, it's probably spam. Respond appropriately. Try to get people thinking with your posts. That way, we will remember you as an interesting forumer.
3. Do you treat others the way you want to be treated?
To gain respect, you've got to earn it. While you're at the forums, show the same amount of courtesy & affection that you wish to receive from others as well. While discussing, don't shoot down other people's ideas. Be open-minded & give them a chance to express yourself. You wouldn't want to be treated with less decorum either.
4. Has someone posted a thread like this before?
Do check if someone has posted a similar thread to the one you plan to post BEFORE you do post it. Take some time to see if a similar thread exists. This will help to keep the forums tidy & avoid redundancy. Plus we'd appreciate you more.
5. Would anyone be interested in what I want to say?
Another thing to remember is not everyone shares the same interests as you. Posting a thread about something you like may not receive the support or attention you might expect. So try to gauge if people would be interested to discuss the topic before posting a thread about it.
Hopefully these 5 questions will help you to be a better forumer; let's make these forums a great place to discuss topics & to share ideas.
YOU are the one who will ensure that these forums are a comfortable, interesting place to be. Take a moment to think & to contribute better quality posts _________________ ~music pours on mortals her magnificent disdain~ |
